It is currently the biggest, most exciting week for the wonderful world of Baijiu. August 9 is World Baijiu Day! You may have heard
if it, you may not have, but it’s exactly what it sounds like. It is a day for people all across the world to celebrate, appreciate, and “raise the profile” for the national spirit of China.
Baijiu may be unfamiliar to many people in the U.S., but in many countries it is well-known and loved. Nonetheless, it’s slowly appearing in more liquor stores, restaurants, and coming across people’s radar in the U.S. liquor market. WBD is celebrated to support these efforts, continuing to strive to make baijiu just as popular and loved by millions in China.
Despite the title, WBD isn’t just a day – it’s pretty much an entire week long celebration with many events all around the world. From NYC to DC, Orlando to Portland, Melbourne to London, there are events being held in several major cities. FU Baijiu in Liverpool is Europe’s first baijiu bar, and they’re taking part in the festivities this week as well. You can view the full list of official events of World Baijiu Day’s official website http://www.worldbaijiuday.com/events/list/
On August 8, Guotai Spirits took part in The DEFINITIVE Happy Hour DC Event with the DC baijiu chapter at the Eighteenth Street Lounge. Young professionals and several organizations were in attendance to network, socialize, and taste free samples of Guotai Baijiu. It was an amazing turnout and successful event, and most importantly, everyone enjoyed baijiu. We spent the evening introducing Guotai and baijiu to many of the unfamiliar. On Saturday August 13, Guotai will be with the New York baijiu chapter taking part in the New York baijiu celebration with Lumos! Lumos is the first cocktail bar, outside of China, dedicated to baijiu. The night will be full of baijiu (of course), raffles, and a Burlesque Show from Calamity Chang. Reserve your tickets online.
